Call For Stories

The Double Nickels Theatre Company has been selected to participate in the centennial celebration of the National Cherry Blossom Festival beginning March 20 through April 27, 2012. This year the Festival will commemorate the 100thanniversary of the gift of trees from the country of Japan to the United States.

The Double Nickels Theatre Company will present a theatrical production entitled “Hanami…through the Eyes of Seniors”, on Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Woolly Mammoth Theatre.  The production will feature true stories from those senior citizens and others who remember the arrival and the early years of the Cherry Blossom trees and the Festival.  The production will be preceded by a VIP reception to include an invitation to the authors of the stories selected for the production.

We invite you to tell us about your favorite Festival experience or memorable moment.  Have you experienced a significant event during the Festival or while enjoying the blossoms?  Tell us in 350 words or less and include photos if you like.  Send the stories to [email protected] by February 13, 2012.

This is the Double Nickels Theatre Company’s invitation to each of you to provide stories to us that could be included in our repertoire for our production or included in a commemorative compilation of stories, be read on our website or seen in a video.
