Who We Were is a compilation of stories of retired military veterans who reside at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington, DC. These stories are based on the memories of the residents whose life experiences return us to times prior to World War II and bring us through the Vietnam Conflict. The stories show the fears and joys, the anxieties and humor, and most of all the patriotism of these veterans.
Charles Dickerson, Chief of Resident Services at the Armed Forces Retirement Home, provides the foreword to this very special first edition. Full-page photographs of the story-tellers compliment the stories inside.
